Website Health

Turn your findings into a useful action plan.

A saved report describes one mobile lab visit of one address. The examples below are labelled hypotheticals. They are not a customer report.

The page that was measured

The report names the measured URL, the time of the measurement, and a Mobile label. That label means the lab visit used a mobile setting. It does not mean every phone, every connection or every page was tested.

Hypothetical example

Measured URL: https://example.com/contact/. Time: a stated date and time in UTC. Label: Mobile. This example is not a saved report and it has no score.

Google’s scores and Ascent’s sections

The overview can show Google’s four category scores: Performance, SEO, Accessibility and Best Practices. Further down, the Ascent sections are Performance, SEO basics, Mobile experience and Security basics. Read them as two views of the same measurement. A Google category score does not by itself award an Ascent section score.

Why coverage matters

Each Ascent section shows how much of its weight was actually measured. A section is scored only when at least half of that weight is measured and at least two groups have scores. Otherwise it says “Insufficient evidence”. A check with no returned evidence says “Not assessed”. Neither of those phrases is a pass.

Hypothetical example

Performance shows a score, and Security basics says “Insufficient evidence”. That would mean enough performance checks were measured to score the section, and the security checks were not. The missing security evidence is not a clean bill of health.

Three suggested starting points

When findings need attention, the report suggests up to three places to start. They are a way in, not a full specification. Open one, read the evidence, and decide whether it belongs in the plan. If fewer than three findings need attention, the report shows fewer starting points.

Findings and evidence

Each finding can be expanded. The expanded view shows the status, the evidence returned for that check, and why it matters on the measured page. Use that evidence before treating a label as a task. A finding marked “Not assessed” is there so you can see the gap.

The action plan and printing

Add a finding to the action plan, or remove it. Then print the report and the plan together. The print view expands the findings so the selected actions are on the page. The selection is stored in that browser only. It is not saved in the email, and it is not attached to an account.

Clearing the browser’s stored site data, or opening the report in another browser, starts the plan again. The report itself remains the saved measurement until the link expires.

Why a later measurement can differ

A later check is a new lab visit. The page, the files it loads, the network and the checks Lighthouse returns can all change. A difference is a new result. It does not rewrite the report you already saved. Compare the measured URL and the time before treating two reports as the same page on the same day.

Check the page you want to understand

Run a check only when you are ready to measure a public page. This page does not start one.
